Cities Innovating Tomorrow's Entrepreneurial Ecosystems (CIT.ee) is a research initiative seeking to understand what drives the emergence of entrepreneurial ecosystems in U.S. cities, and what impact such ecosystems have on the city residents. Many factors are associated with thriving entrepreneurial ecosystems, including the presence of research universities, a lively cultural scene, and capital availability. Yet policy makers and business leaders are hard-pressed to come up with a “playbook” to advance such activity in their own communities since many of these factors are location-specific or not necessarily causal. The CIT.ee initiative aims to understand these relationships.
The research team draws on data and methods from across multiple disciplines and comprises researchers from several institutions, including the University of Virginia, the University of Colorado Boulder and Babson College.
